The Island is the original map of ARK: Survival Evolved and forms the basis for the game’s story. It is characterized by diverse climate zones and geological regions, including five large mountains in the north and vast plains in the south. Three large obelisks form a triangle on the island and serve as prominent landmarks.
With the introduction of ARK: Survival Ascended in October 2023, The Island has been extensively revamped. The map received a graphical redesign with more detailed textures and denser vegetation, making the environment appear more vibrant and realistic.
Additionally, new content has been integrated, including dossiers for creatures like the Carcharodontosaurus and the Rhyniognatha. New ruins and explorable areas expand the gameplay experience and offer fresh challenges for both veterans and newcomers alike. These improvements help ensure that The Island in ARK: Survival Ascended feels both familiar and excitingly new.
