Outlook: New Creatures and TLC Updates 2026

Concavenator by Wildcard

Boaratos (Astraeos Final Update)

The Boaratos will be released in August 2026 as part of the final Astraeos update, which introduces the new island of Helianthos and an expanded underwater biome. The concept of this creature is based on a design by DragonHeart (Arkology: Overseer’s Experiments Mod). Reaching nearly twice the size of a Daeodon, this fiery colossus not only uses its mighty tusks to clear trees, but also sets itself on fire when enraged.

By igniting its fur and tusks, the Boaratos unleashes explosive attack combinations that leave enemy units burning. Whether the creature will be exclusively available on the Astraeos map or freely usable by all players after release remains to be seen until the official dossier is published.

Concavenator (Garuga Mods / Ark Additions)

At the end of August 2026, the Concavenator will make its way into the main game as an official, free addition from Garuga's popular mod series "Ark Additions". The desert predator uses dunes like a liquid element and moves through the sand at high speeds. Spectacular mid-air leaps allow it to ambush prey by surprise and exploit vertical advantages in the terrain.

While a single Concavenator is primarily an agile threat, the animal unleashes its full combat power in coordinated packs. By deliberately kicking up dense clouds of sand, the pack blinds its victims and strikes from changing angles. In addition to the Concavenator, other creatures from Garuga's roster on the roadmap for future releases include the Brachiosaurus, Velociraptor, Suchomimus, Deinocheirus, and Shantungosaurus.

Cerberax (Fantastic Tames Season 1)

As part of the "Fantastic Tames" Season 1 Pass, the Cerberax is scheduled for release in September 2026 according to current store listings. This three-headed beast was specifically designed for heavy tribal warfare, offering seats for a main rider and up to three additional passengers. Each of the three mouths can be controlled individually and covers a specific combat role.

One head deals corruption damage to enemy defense lines, the second burns down targets with flames, while the central head acts as an electrical catalyst. By triggering electrical discharges, existing status effects are consumed and transferred to surrounding enemies as explosive damage. Precise coordination of the multi-rider mechanic results in devastating combination attacks on the front lines.

Gargantar (ARK: Dragontopia)

Even before the release of the paid Dragontopia expansion in December 2026, the Gargantar will be pre-released in the game in October 2026. The gigantic colossus is characterized by a massive lung capacity and an insatiable appetite. It is capable of vacuuming in units, trees, bushes, and resources in its immediate vicinity.

This ability makes the Gargantar a powerful tool for both resource gathering and battlefield control. Its vacuum mechanic allows tribe members to disrupt enemy formations or clear large areas of terrain from obstacles.

Enigmasaur (Fantastic Tames Season 1)

The Enigmasaur joins the "Fantastic Tames" pass in November 2026 as a specialist in stealth and deception. The creature has the ability to observe other living beings from the shadows and store their form in an internal memory. At the press of a button, the Enigmasaur can then transform into the saved forms.

Upon transformation, the creature adopts all the unique abilities of the copied species. Since the Enigmasaur can store multiple forms at once, it offers survivors flexible adaptation to changing combat situations, sabotage operations, or reconnaissance missions.

Therizinosaurus & Other TLC Overhauls

Following the upgrade of the Araneo, the Therizinosaurus—winner of the Extra Life vote—will receive a comprehensive visual and mechanical overhaul (TLC). The update improves the creature's combat controls, mobility, and visual progression. Wild specimens will exhibit adjusted threatening behavior in the future: before attacking, they will pause with a fixed gaze and spread claws to signal a final warning to attackers. Additionally, the claws and posture of a tamed Therizinosaurus will visually reflect its primary harvesting task in the future, making individual wear and tear visible.

Later in 2026, the confirmed TLC updates for the Quetzal, Giganotosaurus, and Megalosaurus are also scheduled - but in Wildcard time - meaning this could easily be 2027 or later).

Outlook: Dragontopia, Atlantis, and Genesis Ascended Part 2

With the release of the Dragontopia map in December 2026, we expect a game world of floating islands with specialized biomes such as canopy forests, red glaciers, volcanic regions, and electrical ruins. In addition to the early-access creatures, other map features are planned for the dragon theme. In the first quarter of 2027, the underwater expansion "Atlantis" will follow under the direction of the new Lead Level Designer, Nekatus.

Genesis Ascended Part 2 is also scheduled for 2027. In addition to the well-known Evolved creatures, this DLC will include a new community vote creature (voting expected in October 2026) as well as the "Bob’s True Tales: Galaxy Wars" pack, which is expected to feature creatures adapted to a lunar biome.

Updates and News from Community Crunch 520

With Community Crunch 520, Studio Wildcard has clarified important dates and revealed new details about upcoming content. The most important focal point is September 30, 2026: on this day, not only will the extensive engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.8 be released, but also the three-headed Cerberax as part of the "Fantastic Tames" Pass. The official dossier confirms its multi-rider role (main rider plus three passengers) and the combination of corruption, fire, and electric damage.

For the near future, the roadmap remains tight: it kicks off with the final Astraeos update featuring the island of Helianthos and the fiery Boaratos in August 2026, closely followed by the official main game integration of the Concavenator from Garuga's "Ark Additions" at the end of August.

The following months are all about new gameplay mechanics: the major September release will be followed by the Gargantar in October as a pre-release creature for Dragontopia, and the shapeshifting Enigmasaur in November. For the long-awaited Therizinosaurus TLC as well as the other overhauls for Quetzal, Giganotosaurus, and Megalosaurus, Wildcard continues to push development forward to provide the new animations and harvesting visuals in time for the upcoming map releases.
